I had a recruiter call me yesterday to discuss a possible job with the Dept. of State in VA. First of all, commuting to VA when I have 2 small children is out of the question. Secondly, even if the commute wasn't onerous, I know how inflexible gov't contracts can be.
Just to see how interested the recruiter was, I floated a very hourly high rate for which I would consider the position. After a brief pause from the other end of the line, there was a barely audible "wow". I love it.
